Who we are
CareerLookAI was built to solve a simple but serious problem: many students and professionals don't know what career path to pursue — and the resources to help them are far too limited. On average, students get less than 38 minutes with a school guidance counselor per year. Professionals looking to make a career change often have no access to guidance at all. There simply aren't enough resources to help people explore careers, compare universities, understand salary expectations, and plan a future with confidence.
We built an AI-powered guidance counselor available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — for every student, career-changer, and curious person who deserves better guidance than they've been given.
This site began with my father. In the 1970s, as a young man trying to find his footing, he struggled to figure out what to do with his career — and as he looked around, he realized he wasn't alone. Friends, family, and young people all across the country faced the same problem: big decisions, and almost nowhere to turn for real guidance.
The idea stayed with him. In the early 1990s, as the internet was just beginning, he imagined a place online where anyone could explore careers and get honest direction. But the technology and resources to build something like that simply didn't exist yet — so the idea waited.
Decades later, by pairing the task of career exploration with artificial intelligence, I was finally able to build what he envisioned. CareerLookAI is my father's dream made real: a guidance counselor for everyone — the resource he wished he'd had, now available to any young professional who needs it.
Sincerely,
The Founder, CareerLookAI
Technology
CareerLookAI uses AI to generate career and university profiles. When you visit a profile page for the first time, our system generates a comprehensive, structured profile for that career or school.
That profile is then saved to our database and served to every subsequent visitor — so AI is only called once per career or university, and the data is saved for fast loading on future visits.
Career salary figures, job growth projections, and employment data are informed by publicly available sources including the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), industry compensation surveys, and AI knowledge bases. University information including acceptance rates, tuition, and rankings are based on publicly reported data and AI's knowledge.
Users can submit new career suggestions through the Career Explorer. All submissions are validated by AI for legality and legitimacy before being added to the platform. Submitted careers are rate-limited to prevent abuse and stored in our database.
