Founded in 1881 by Swedish Lutheran immigrants, Bethany College is a private liberal arts institution located in Lindsborg, Kansas. The college has a long-standing reputation for its music program, most notably the annual Bethany Oratorio Society's performance of Handel's Messiah, a tradition dating back to 1882 and one of the longest continuously running Messiah performances in the United States.
