Cabrini University was founded in 1957 by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the religious order established by Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, the first American citizen canonized by the Catholic Church. Located in Radnor Township, Pennsylvania, the university built a reputation as a small, mission-driven institution emphasizing social justice, service learning, and academic support for first-generation college students. It offered undergraduate and graduate programs across business, education, communications, and health sciences, with particular strength in its criminology and social justice programs. In 2023, facing declining enrollment and financial difficulties, Cabrini's board announced the university would close after the 2023-2024 academic year, with many of its programs and some faculty transitioning to Immaculata University.
