Overview
California State University, Northridge was founded in 1958 as San Fernando Valley State College and became CSUN in 1972. Located in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, it has grown into one of the largest universities in the country by enrollment, serving a highly diverse student body. CSUN is particularly recognized for its programs in business, engineering, cinema and television arts, and its pioneering National Center on Deafness, which supports one of the largest populations of deaf and hard-of-hearing students in U.S. higher education.
