Overview
Founded in 1787, Castleton University is one of the oldest independent colleges in the United States and part of the Vermont State University system. Originally established as a medical college and later a normal school for teacher training, Castleton evolved into a comprehensive university offering undergraduate and select graduate programs. It is best known for its strong education, nursing, and business programs, as well as its intimate class sizes and rural New England setting.
