Overview
Chaminade University of Honolulu was founded in 1955 by the Marianist religious order as a men's college and became coeducational in 1969. Named after Blessed William Joseph Chaminade, founder of the Marianist order, the university has grown into a comprehensive institution offering undergraduate and graduate degrees while maintaining a strong Catholic and values-based identity. It is best known for its nursing, criminal justice, environmental science, and forensic science programs, as well as its commitment to serving Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students.
