Overview

Founded in 1874, Colorado College was established by Congregational church leaders just six years before Colorado achieved statehood. The college was built on land donated by General William Jackson Palmer, founder of Denver and Rio Grande Railroad, and was one of the first colleges in the Rocky Mountain region. From its inception, CC was coeducational and has maintained a commitment to academic excellence and accessibility in the American West.
