Overview
Delta State University was founded in 1924 as Delta State Teachers College in Cleveland, Mississippi, to train educators for the region's rural schools. Over the decades it expanded into a comprehensive regional university offering undergraduate and graduate programs across business, education, arts and sciences, and health professions. The university is particularly recognized for its aviation program, one of the oldest and most respected collegiate flight programs in the country, as well as its strong nursing and teacher education offerings.
