Overview
Founded in 1783, Dickinson College is one of the oldest colleges in the United States and the first to be chartered after American independence, named after founding father John Dickinson. The college has a long tradition of producing statesmen, diplomats, and public leaders, and it maintains a strong academic reputation particularly in international studies, political science, and the natural sciences. Dickinson was also among the first American colleges to embrace global education, establishing one of the earliest study-abroad programs in the country.
