Overview
Founded in 1776, Hampden-Sydney College is the tenth-oldest institution of higher learning in the United States and one of the last remaining all-male liberal arts colleges in the country. Its early trustees included Patrick Henry and James Madison, and the college has long emphasized classical liberal arts education, rhetoric, and character formation. It is best known for its rigorous academics, strong pre-law and pre-med tracks, and a mission centered on producing 'good men and good citizens.'
