Overview
Founded in 1960 as Houston Baptist College and renamed Houston Christian University in 2023, the institution was established with support from the Baptist General Convention of Texas to provide a Christ-centered higher education. It has grown from a small liberal arts college into a comprehensive university offering undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs while maintaining its evangelical Christian mission and integration of faith with academics across all disciplines. The university is best known for its nursing, education, and business programs, as well as its Honors College and strong pre-professional tracks.
