Overview
Founded in 1824 by Episcopal Bishop Philander Chase, Kenyon College is one of the oldest private liberal arts colleges in the United States and the oldest in Ohio. It gained national prominence through the Kenyon Review, the influential literary magazine founded in 1939 by poet-critic John Crowe Ransom, which cemented the college's reputation for excellence in creative writing and English studies.
