Overview

Founded in 2017 as the UNLV School of Medicine, the institution was renamed in 2021 following a landmark $150 million gift from the estate of businessman and philanthropist Kirk Kerkorian, one of the largest gifts ever made to a medical school. The school was established to help address chronic physician shortages in Nevada and to build a robust academic medical center in Las Vegas. It welcomed its inaugural class in 2017 and quickly earned full LCME accreditation, emphasizing community-based training and partnerships with local hospitals.
