Overview
Founded in 1847 as Lawrence Institute of Wisconsin, Lawrence University is one of the oldest coeducational institutions in the country and holds the distinction of being the first college in Wisconsin to grant degrees to women. Located in Appleton, Wisconsin, it has built a strong national reputation for its rigorous liberal arts education combined with a nationally recognized conservatory of music, making it one of the few institutions where students can pursue a double degree combining a Bachelor of Arts with a Bachelor of Music.
