Overview
Lyndon State College was a public liberal arts college located in Lyndonville, Vermont, founded in 1911 as a normal school for teacher training. Over the decades it evolved into a broader four-year public college within the Vermont State Colleges System, becoming particularly well known for its atmospheric sciences and mass communication programs, including a nationally recognized meteorology degree supported by on-campus weather forecasting facilities. In 2023, Lyndon State merged with Vermont Technical College, Castleton University, and Johnson State College to form Vermont State University, ending its existence as an independent institution.
