Overview
Founded in 1833 by Baptist leaders in Penfield, Georgia, Mercer University is one of the oldest private universities in the South. It relocated to Macon in 1871 and has since grown into a comprehensive university with a law school, medical school, pharmacy school, and business school, while maintaining its liberal arts roots. Mercer is particularly well regarded for its Walter F. George School of Law, School of Medicine, and College of Pharmacy, as well as its engineering programs.
