Overview

Founded in 1911 as Middle Tennessee State Normal School, MTSU has grown from a teacher training institution into a comprehensive public university and the largest undergraduate campus in Tennessee. Located in Murfreesboro, just outside Nashville, the university built a strong regional reputation and has become nationally recognized for its Recording Industry program, one of the most respected in the country, as well as its Aerospace program, one of the largest collegiate flight programs in the nation.
