Overview
Founded in 2019 as an extension of NYU Grossman School of Medicine, NYU Grossman Long Island School of Medicine was established to address a national shortage of primary care physicians by offering an accelerated, three-year MD pathway. It became the second NYU medical school to offer full-tuition scholarships to all students, following the model pioneered at the Manhattan campus, and it emphasizes training doctors specifically for careers in primary care, including internal medicine, pediatrics, and family medicine. The school is closely integrated with NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island in Mineola, New York, providing students with clinical training in a community hospital setting.
