Overview
Founded in 1975, the New England School of Acupuncture was the first school of its kind in the United States, pioneering the formal education of acupuncture and Chinese medicine in a Western academic context. In 2011, NESA merged with MCPHS University (Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences), combining its historic expertise in acupuncture with the resources and accreditation infrastructure of a larger health sciences institution. The program is known for rigorous clinical training and has produced many practitioners who have shaped the acupuncture profession nationally.
