Overview
Northern Michigan University was founded in 1899 as a normal school to train teachers and has since grown into a comprehensive public university serving the Upper Peninsula region. Located in Marquette on the shores of Lake Superior, NMU became a pioneer in mobile computing, being one of the first universities to provide laptops to all students.
