Overview
Founded in 1975 as the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine, the institution was renamed in 2005 following a major gift from the Osteopathic Heritage Foundations. It was Ohio's first medical school dedicated to osteopathic medicine and has built a strong reputation for training primary care physicians, particularly for rural and medically underserved areas of Appalachia. The college is consistently ranked among the top schools nationally for primary care and rural medicine training outcomes.
