Overview
Founded in 1872 by African Methodist Episcopal Church circuit riders to educate freed slaves, Paul Quinn College is one of the nation's oldest historically Black colleges. Originally located in Austin and Waco, Texas, the college relocated to Dallas in 1990. Under President Michael Sorrell's leadership since 2007, PQC transformed itself into the nation's first urban work college, gaining national recognition for reinventing small, under-resourced HBCUs through experiential learning and a no-frills, career-focused model.
