Overview
Founded in 1848 in Clarksville, Tennessee as Masonic University, the institution relocated to Memphis in 1925 and was renamed Rhodes College in 1984 in honor of former president Peyton Nalle Rhodes. It has long been recognized as one of the top liberal arts colleges in the South, known for its rigorous curriculum, close faculty-student relationships, and strong record of placing graduates into medical school, law school, and competitive careers. The college's Collegiate Gothic campus, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is often cited as one of the most beautiful in the country.
