Overview
Rio Salado College was founded in 1978 as part of the Maricopa County Community College District, designed from the outset as a nontraditional 'college without walls' to serve working adults, military members, and nontraditional students. It quickly became a leader in distance and online education, offering courses with multiple start dates throughout the year rather than a traditional semester calendar. The college is best known for its extensive online course catalog, correctional education programs, and partnerships with employers and school districts to provide workforce training and dual enrollment opportunities.
