Overview
Founded in 1954 as Seton Hall College of Medicine and Dentistry, the school moved to Newark in 1965 and became part of the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey before joining Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in 2013 following state higher education restructuring. Located in the heart of Newark's University Heights Science Park, NJMS has built a reputation for strong clinical training, HIV/AIDS and infectious disease research, trauma care, and community-oriented medicine. It is one of two medical schools under the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences umbrella, alongside Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
