Schreiner University was founded in 1923 as Schreiner Institute, a junior college for men established by Captain Charles Schreiner, and became a four-year coeducational institution in 1971. Affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the university has built a reputation for small classes, close faculty mentorship, and a strong emphasis on experiential and values-based education.
