Overview
Founded in 1824 as Jefferson Medical College, Sidney Kimmel Medical College is one of the oldest and largest private medical schools in the United States. It was renamed in 2014 following a major gift from philanthropist Sidney Kimmel. The school has a long tradition of training physicians who go on to practice across the country, with a strong emphasis on clinical excellence, and it is affiliated with the extensive Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals network in Philadelphia.
