Overview
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville was founded in 1957 as a second campus of Southern Illinois University to serve the growing population of the Metro East region near St. Louis, Missouri. It gained independent accreditation and grew rapidly through the 1960s, developing a modernist campus designed by renowned architect Hilyard Robinson and Harry Weese.
