Overview
Originally founded in 1948 as the Marietta campus of the Georgia Institute of Technology to train returning veterans in technical trades, the institution evolved into Southern Polytechnic State University, known for its applied, hands-on approach to engineering, engineering technology, computing, and architecture. In 2015 it merged with Kennesaw State University, and its academic programs were absorbed into what is now KSU's Southern Polytechnic College of Engineering and Engineering Technology, continuing its legacy of practice-oriented technical education on the Marietta campus.
