Overview
Established in 2022, the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability is the first new school created at Stanford University in 70 years, following a landmark $1.1 billion gift from John and Ann Doerr. It was founded to unify and expand Stanford's efforts in climate science, energy, sustainability, and environmental policy under a single school dedicated to addressing global environmental challenges. The school builds on Stanford's long history of environmental research, incorporating the former School of Earth, Energy & Environmental Sciences, and quickly established itself as a leading hub for climate and sustainability scholarship.
