Overview
Founded in 1935 through a bequest from Stella Elkins Tyler, the Tyler School of Art and Architecture began as an independent fine arts institution before merging with Temple University. Originally located in Elkins Park, Tyler relocated to Temple's Main Campus in Philadelphia in 2009 into a striking building designed by Carlos Jimenez. The school has built a strong national reputation in painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, ceramics, and architecture, and is recognized as one of the premier art schools in the country.
