Overview
Founded in 1816, the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law is one of the oldest law schools in the United States and a founding member of the University System of Maryland's professional schools in Baltimore. Renamed in 2011 following a major gift from the Carey family, the school has built a strong national reputation for clinical legal education, health law, and intellectual property law. It has long been recognized as a pioneer in experiential learning, operating one of the most extensive clinical law programs in the country.
