Overview
The University of North Georgia was formed in 2013 through the consolidation of North Georgia College & State University, one of the nation's six senior military colleges founded in 1873, and Gainesville State College. This merger created a comprehensive institution within the University System of Georgia that serves both a rigorous Corps of Cadets and a large civilian student body. UNG is best known for producing commissioned officers for all branches of the U.S. military and for its strong programs in nursing, business, education, and criminal justice.
