Overview
Founded in 2010 through a partnership between the University of South Carolina and the Greenville Health System (now Prisma Health), the School of Medicine Greenville was established to address physician shortages in South Carolina and to create a new model of medical education deeply embedded within a clinical health system. It became the second MD-granting medical school within the University of South Carolina system, complementing the flagship Columbia campus, and it graduated its first class in 2017. The school has built a reputation for its patient-centered curriculum, early clinical immersion, and strong ties to Prisma Health, one of the largest health systems in the Southeast.
