Overview
Founded in 1969 as a graduate research center growing out of the former Southwest Center for Advanced Studies (linked to Texas Instruments founders), UT Dallas has evolved into one of the fastest-rising public research universities in the United States. It joined the University of Texas System in 1969 and began undergraduate education in 1975. The university has built a strong national reputation in engineering, computer science, business, and the sciences, and is classified as an R1 doctoral university with very high research activity.
