Overview
The University of the District of Columbia was established in 1976 through the merger of three public institutions: Federal City College, Washington Technical Institute, and D.C. Teachers College. It holds the unique distinction of being the only public land-grant university in the District of Columbia and one of very few urban land-grant institutions in the country. UDC is known for its affordability, community engagement, and mission of expanding access to higher education for D.C. residents and underserved populations.
