Overview
Founded in 2010, the William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine was established to address physician shortages in Mississippi and the surrounding region, particularly in primary care and rural and underserved areas. Located on the university's Hattiesburg campus, it was the first medical school in Mississippi to offer the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree, and it emphasizes osteopathic principles, hands-on clinical training, and a mission of service rooted in the university's Baptist heritage.
