Overview
Wright State University was founded in 1967 and named after aviation pioneers Orville and Wilbur Wright, reflecting the region's deep aerospace heritage tied to nearby Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The university grew out of a cooperative branch campus of Miami University and Ohio State University before becoming independent.
